Welcome to the Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing
The Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing was formed in 1971. The Minnesota Wing was the very first charter unit of the national headquarters wing of the Commemorative Air Force and operated as a maintenance support arm to help the CAF’s mission and its ever growing fleet of rare aircraft.
The Commemorative Air Force was founded to acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States, and selected aircraft of other nations, for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations of Americans.

Today, the Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing is home to six aircraft, a large motor pool fleet, and a unique collection of World War II artifacts that are on display at Fleming Field in South Saint Paul, MN.
The Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing attends many airshows, parades, and other events throughout the year. We also host two hangar dances and several museum functions at our facility, but we are much more than just a museum. Whether you volunteer, donate, attend an event, or take a history flight ride, your contributions help us continue to educate, restore, and honor.

12 Planes of Christmas Fundraiser
Our B-25 "Miss Mitchell has been chosen as plane #5 for the 2024 12 Planes of Christmas campaign.
The ongoing restoration and maintenance of Miss Mitchell keep the Minnesota Wing busy. The team is preparing for its second engine overhaul in three years, each costing approximately $90,000. Fortunately, skilled volunteers help minimize tour disruptions and reduce time and costs, but it is still a huge expense for the Wing. Additional restoration efforts include fabricating ammo chutes and adding details like life raft compartments and Holly scoops. The ultimate goal is to maintain this iconic aircraft in airworthy condition through consistent upkeep, ensuring safety and enhancing its historical authenticity.
Miss Mitchell, a B-25 medium bomber, is one of six aircraft maintained and operated by the Minnesota Wing. Wing members tour with the aircraft for several months each year, giving the public an up-close experience with this iconic Mitchell bomber. Frequently showcased at bomber group reunions, Miss Mitchell honors those who served in these heroic missions. By bringing history to life, she helps tell the story of the people behind the B-25 and provides hands-on experiences emphasizing the significance of America’s aviation heritage.
